The course is running!

We have finally seen the course running and whilst it will be off
again for the next 2 days whilst they do a couple of very small changes to a couple of the new groins everything is 100% OK for the Paddlefest. Obviously
baring flood or drought conditions arriving in the next 2 weeks

Whilst the course does still need a little tuning, with the plastic blocks,
there are definitely "play" worthy features.

National Student Rodeo

We have teamed up with the National Student Rodeo to allow them to use part of the course over the weekend to run their event, as the white water course will not be finished in time for their applied for date. We felt that supporting this long-standing and successful event was the right thing to do in this circumstance and would add atmosphere and new dimensions to both events. We have planned a timetable for the course, which will allow time for demos, and time for the competition to run.

Something for the Sea Kayakers...

A variety of workshops and talks are taking place at the show for those more interested in the salt-water side of paddling. Patrick Winterton presents ‘Riding the Celtic Tide Race’ which recounts anecdotes from his latest West Coast adventures. The RNLI are giving advice on emergency equipment to have with you if you ever need to call for help and Richard Cree will be going through what to take and how to pack it.

If you fancy getting some coaching or learning some new skills there are intro to Sea kayak sessions for Beginners plus coaching from Doug Cooper who will also be launching his new book ‘Sea Kayak Handling’ and Rescue Techniques from Richard Cree.

We also have a huge range of Sea kayak manufacturers on site ready to let you demo their boats and give advice on what is the best boat for you.

Canoe Workshops

If you are interested in progressing your canoe skills on to white water then the Introduction to white water safety and rescue aimed specifically at the canoeist is definitely worth while attending, just be prepared to get wet.

Or if learning more traditional skills are more your cup of tea then the 'Beyond the Paddle' session is for you, looking at different ways of propelling your boat such as lining, tracking, poling and sailing.

To book a place on either of these sessions please email info@paddlefest.co.uk
